Overview
Trader’s Access is a downloading, technical analysis, and On-Line trading
program for astute investors. The program has 4 major modes:
List Mode -
You can manipulate Lists (
Create, Rename, Delete) for individual types of symbols or you can group all of your symbols into
one large List. Multiple Lists can hold unlimited symbols and data or you can add
symbols to one gigantic list.
Adding symbols is a snap! You can
Add symbols manually, Import from other programs/files, or use our built-in function to build symbols from
over 120,000 possibilities. You can designate the starting date for retrieval.
In other words, if you want to have data downloaded from a certain date, just
select the start date while you are adding the symbol.
If a symbol changes its name or any of its characteristics, use the
Change menu selection. For example, if you decide that you would like to get more
data than you originally designated when you added the symbol, use Change to
modify the start date.
You can delete a symbol or multiple symbols simply by clicking on it/them (via
Tag and Drag) and selecting
Delete from the menu. You can Transfer symbols from list to list or within the same list. Transfer can also create
weekly, and/or monthly symbols out of daily ones. You can even transfer the
data at the same time.
In a List Window, you can:
Sort the symbols in order to put them in a specific order for easier viewing; Find certain symbols by their individual characteristics; Copy one or more symbols to the clipboard for pasting into other programs; Fix
stock Splits and Mutual Fund Disbursements.
Want to
Export data to other programs? You have your choice in Trader’s Access of ASCII,
MetaStock/Computrac (which in turn can be used to put data into SuperCharts and
Windows on WallStreet), AIQ or Right Time (DOS). Trader’s Access can even
export to a Quicken file.
Need to print out the symbols? Select
Print from the File Menu and you will be given the choice of printing to your printer or to a file on
your hard drive.
As you can see, the List Windows control the programs’ activities. By
selecting a symbol or symbols in a List Window, you can bring up a
Chart window, Data window, and do an Options Analysis on a stock, index or futures option. You can even do a Scan of the selected symbol(s) for study data like RSI, or trading systems like
the Right Time that displays in a report window.
Data Mode -
Once you have retrieved data, you can click on a symbol or symbols in the List
Window and then go to the View Menu. On the View Menu you will see two choices for selecting how you want to
view the data.
A)
Data (Single) -
Accomplishes 2 goals:
1) If you highlight just one symbol, you can view its data in a data window.
2) If you highlight multiple symbols, all of the data for all of the symbols
will be displayed in just the one window (perfect for viewing one day’s data for
all symbols).
B)
Data (Multiple) -
Lets assume you want to view historical data for multiple symbols, but you do
not want to have to click around. Just highlight the symbols in the List
Window and click on Data Multiple. Each symbol’s data will appear in a separate
window.
While in a Data Window, you can modify data if you see an error by using
Change (our data is not always perfect). You can Sort the data in descending or ascending order. Want to fix a stock split, just
click on the last data point not split, and click on Split from the Edit Menu. The same goes for Mutual Fund Disbursements.
In the Data Mode you can copy data to the clipboard for pasting into other
programs. You can delete data (with some limitations). You can even look for
specific data in the data window by selecting
Find from the Edit Menu.
If you would like to join data from two different symbols, you can use the
Merge menu selection. It’s easy!
Need to print out the data, just highlight what you want output in the Data
Window and select
Print from the File Menu. You will be given the choice of printing to your printer
or to a file on your hard drive.
3) Chart Mode -
Once you have a chart on your screen, Chart (Single), you can apply studies, draw lines, type in text, draw checkmarks, and manipulate the charts into any style desired. You can Zoom In/Out on charts for easier viewing, print them to your printer and overlay symbols
on top of symbols. Sounds easy doesn't it? It is easy!
The charts can even have default values for
color and line style. You can have default studies applied to your charts automatically by setting them in
Settings:Automation:Studies.
The only limitation to the number of charts on your screen at one time is the
amount of memory in your computer.
4) Universal -
We group everything else into this mode. Universal is just what it implies,
things that are available regardless of Mode.
Obviously, one of the most important items in the program is the ability to
retrieve quotes. We have made retrieval easy. Just click on
Retrieve from the Communications Menu to get your quotes. The program is smart too!. It searches the data you
already have to determine what data is needed to bring you up-to-date. If you have not retrieved data for a few days, you will get just the missing
data. If you add a symbol, but have all of your other symbols up-to-date,
retrieve will just get the data for the new symbol (based on the starting date).
Trader’s Access can save windows in groups for easy access. You can designate
a group by just having the windows (List, Data, and Chart) on the screen and
selecting
Create Group from the File Menu. The next time you want to see this specific grouping of windows, just select Open Group from the File Menu. Do not want a group anymore? Delete it with the Delete Group menu selection in the File Menu.
If you are not a member of the Trader’s Access Database, you can sign-up when
you are ready by selecting
Sign-Up from the Communications Menu. Need to communicate with us at T.B.S.P., Send Mail (sent the next time you download data). We will reply to you within 1
business day and you can see the reply in Read Mail (received the next time you download data).
Want to
Automate some important tasks within the program. You can retrieve your data at a
certain time each day, have the program automatically do a Scan and/or Export data to ASCII, MetaStock/Computrac, AIQ, Right Time (DOS) and Quicken
immediately after a retrieval.
Other automated features are:
Automatically apply studies to charts each time they are displayed.
Automatically apply colors and a style to charts each time they are displayed.
Remember those groups we talked about earlier, you can even have one of them
brought onto your screen when you first run Trader’s Access.
On-Line Trading - You can make a trade within the program with our deep discount brokerage
firm.
